Compressed Workweek Self-Assessment

Are you and your job a good fit for a compressed workweek?

The questions below may help you decide. They are based on people and positions that have made flexibility work here and in other companies.

Please read each statement. If it is true for you, click on the box. Keep in mind that this assessment is meant only as a guide. The final decision rests with you and your manager.

My job requirements would allow me to be out of the office on some days, shifting the work normally done at those times to other hours or days.
At least some of my job requirements are independent and task-focused in nature.
I can participate in some way in all critical meetings and training opportunities while on a compressed workweek.
I am comfortable making independent decisions.
I can concentrate and stay focused for long periods of time without burning out.
I have enough stamina to work longer days in exchange for longer blocks of time off.
I consistently complete work assignments and meet deadlines without constant supervision.
I understand that business needs may necessitate my coming to work on a “day off” on occasion and accept that fact.
My communication skills are strong enough to keep others apprised of my schedule and work process.
I am adaptable and flexible.
I can provide quality service to customers on a compressed workweek.
There will be someone available to respond quickly to customer needs if I am not at work without a negative impact on their own job performance.

Interpreting Your Results

The more checks you have, the more likely you are to succeed with this option. A very low number of checks should encourage you to rethink the compressed workweek option and review carefully the options guidelines.
